SEQUENTIAL?!

DAVE SMITH has officially rebranded the company from DAVE SMITH INSTRUMENTS to SEQUENTIAL. This year is the 40th Anniversary of the classic synth PROPHET 5.

SEQUENTIAL CIRCUITS was founded by DAVE SMITH back in 1974 & bought by YAMAHA in 1987.

Now in 2018 DAVE SMITH has got the name SEQUENTIAL back.

I remember a few years ago now playing a few of the DAVE SMITH synths (e.g. PROPHET 6, MOPHO X4 etc)
I have never played the classic PROPHET 5.

Have you played any DAVE SMITH INSTRUMENTS/ SEQUENTIAL synths? Or do own any? If so which ones?

Until next time

#SHOWOFFYORSYNTHS- CHARLES WHILEY

Artist Name:
Charles Whiley

When did your interest in synths start?:
2000

What was your first synth?:
Akai 3020m and 3030m for the EWI 3030 (electric wind instrument)

What synths do you have?:
Akai AX-80

Oberheim Matrix-1000
Novation Peak
Novation Supernova

Arturia MatrixBrute

Synthstrom Deluge
Jomox Alpha Base

Do you have a favourite synth artist? If so, who?:
Really too many to name but I like Richie Hawtin aka Plastikman, Deadmau5, and John Digweed among others.

Which is your favourite synth & why?:
Currently the Oberheim Matrix-1000 but I use a Stereoping controller, Elektron Analog Drive, Erica Synths AcidBox II Polivoks filter, and TC Electronics G-Major FX processor on it. It sounds so rich, lush, full, and the possibilities are endless with all the controls and fx.

What synth would you like to add to your synth collection?:
Korg Radias
DSI Rev2-16
DSI OB-6
DSI Prophet 12
DSI Tempest
Access Virus TI/TI2

If you could take one synth on a desert island, which one would you take & why?:
Deluge - because it's a sequencer, sampler, and synth so you can do everything on it. It's also battery powered and has a speaker and a mic built in.

WHERE CAN PEOPLE HEAR YOUR MUSIC? (Add links etc):
Dave Smith instruments synths are really good. Yes I think they would be a great addition to a synth collection. Good ole Access Virus synths 😀😀

I would like to say thank you to Charles Whiley for taking part in #SHOWOFFYOURSYNTHS 😀😀

#SHOWOFFYOURSYNTHS- EARL OF MALADY CRESCENT/ NEIL HARRIS

Artist Name:
Earl of Malady Crescent / Neil Harris

When did your interest in synths start?:
I'm interested in Keyboards in general really. I started on beginners Keyboards, (with built in beats and accompaniments, etc). That possibly goes back to when I was 5. I'm not sure on the correct age.

What was your first synth?:
My first actual SYNTH is the Korg N5. But I've owned quite a few Keyboards before that. My first one with full sized keys was the Yamaha PSR-??. (I can't remember which model it was). I've only played it once since around 1994.

What synths do you have?:
Not all of these are Synths, but I have these:
Korg N5, Roland W-30, Roland SH-201, Casio CZ-3000 and Akai S3000XL (sound module).
Instruments I've had in the past:
Casio CT-670, Yamaha EL7 (Organ), Yamaha DD12 (Drum Machine), Yamaha PSR-??.

Do you have a favourite synth artist? If so, who?:
Jean Michel Jarre.

Which is your favourite synth & why?:
Korg N5. It has a massive library of sounds and I find it very user friendly. It also features after touch, which I think is very useful, particularly when playing two Keyboards at the same time.

What synth would you like to add to your synth collection?:
Something from Dexibell. That company specialises in Electric Pianos and their Piano sounds are JUST like the real thing.
Something from Nord would be a great addition as well.

If you could take one synth on a desert island, which one would you take & why?:
Well...a desert island isn't likely to have any electric sockets anywhere, to plug a Synth in to, so I don't see the point in taking ANY Synth there! Maybe I'll take my Melodica and my Glockenspiel!
